Definition
A ductless mini-split is a heat pump system with an outdoor compressor connected to one or more indoor wall- or ceiling-mounted units by a small refrigerant line — no ductwork required. Each indoor head is its own zone with independent temperature control, making it ideal for additions, finished basements, garages, sunrooms, and older Grand Rapids homes that never had ducts.
Why this matters for your home
Mini-splits avoid the 10–30% energy losses common in leaky ductwork and let you condition just the rooms you use. They're a practical way to add cooling and supplemental heat to a space that's always too hot or too cold without tearing into walls for ducts.
